Any community group that wants to participate and influence local services and activities within their neighbourhoods, but who may lack the knowledge and skills to enable them to do this in the most effective way.
In particular, if you are a member of a group that may feel isolated because of unfamiliar processes and systems and require greater understanding, then this programme is for you.
If you are a member of a community group who is committed to strengthening and developing their group, and who understand the value and importance gaining skills and knowledge to achieve their group's goals - then Groups in Action is for you.
You may be:
Having completed your training you will be able to plan, listen and provide appropriate feedback, understand group formation and dynamics, and how to deal with difficult group members.
The Groups in Action programme, like many things in life, will give you more back, the more you put in. While Groups in Action offers lots of goodies that you can sample and take advantage of as suits you best, if you are able to commit a regular amount of time and effort to working through parts of the website, this will help you to develop a rounded set of skills to help you take effective action in and for your communities.
During the life of the project ADEPT will further develop its package of 'franchising' in which groups of organisations can pay an annual subscription fee to access the training, accreditation, support and Facilitator development.
The development of a package that does not rely on grants from specific budgetary strands, but gives sufficient flexibility to respond to the support needs of communities will more effectively support the sustainability of those groups
